Bill Guggenheim, who coined the term ADC, defines it as a spiritual experience when "someone is contacted directly and spontaneously" by a deceased loved one or friend. The departed seek to let the living know that they're OK, and want to help alleviate the grieving process.

He shared the story of Katherine Cochran, a woman who received an after-death communication from her brother-in-law during a vivid dream (dreams are a common way the dead may contact the living), and subsequently began to hear lyrics and melodies that she used to compose songs, even though she had no previous musical background.

Kathy Cochran teams up with Incolay Studios to create Sheltie Cremation Urns

Due to the overwhelming response to the Incolay Sheltie Angel ornament, I have designed the Sheltie Angel cremation urn, available in 6 colors.  Sheltie Angel is sold through the American Shetland Sheepdog's endorsed Rescue Groups and through Pet Crematories in the USA.

UPDATE: 2/23/10
I had the surgery as scheduled and it turned out to be a benign Pseudotumor!  Thank you to everyone who said prayers for me and my family during these past 6 months.  There were so many wonderful messages left on my Caring Bridge site, that will soon be converted over to this Spirit Lyric website for everyone to see.  Many people believe a miracle occured in my case.  It's not every day that a place like the Mayo Clinic gives a misdiagnoses of Pancreatic Cancer from an acutal biopsy.

For those of you coming to this page for the first time, you can go to the  Caring Bridge website that was set up for me last August.

I'm still recovering from the surgery and am on a feeding pump through a feeding tube in my abdomen, for 12 hours a day, but I am expected to completely heal.

Judy Guggenheim is still handling all orders for now, so if you need to contact her,
please direct all  inquiries to:  Orders@SpiritLyric.com

I'm very sorry to say that on Thursday, August 13th, 2009, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer by the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL.  I will be having surgery within the next few weeks, a procedure called The Whipple.

If you have placed an order between August 13th and now, please be aware that your order may be delayed - but will be filled.  Please direct all order inquiries to Judith Guggenheim:  Orders@SpiritLyric.com

I do not know what the outcome will be from this, but as everyone knows, pancreatic cancer is not a good diagnosis regardless of the "stage."  I have been diagnosed at Stage 2 (T2N0).  Though I have received a dreaded diagnosis at age 37, my personal beliefs, which I share with you through this website, remain stronger than ever.  I do not fear death because I know I will be going to a place where I am supposed to go, at "my" time.  I will not be going anywhere that you will not be one day, yourself.

I know those of you who come to this website have deeply hurting hearts because you have lost someone you love.  What I can tell you with 100% certainty is that the hardest part of facing death is knowing how sad those who love me will be when I go.  I don't want that for them.  I want them to continue living their lives, doing things that make them happy.  Always do things that make you happy because you are still here for a reason.

With love,
Katherine J. Cochran

Q-Boy, our Painting Sheltie, goes to the Rainbow Bridge

Q crossed to the Rainbow Bridge on April 13th, 2009 at the wonderful old age of 15.  Our hearts are hurting very deeply but Mark and I take comfort in knowing we will be together again.....one day.  The Orlando Sentinel has already done a story on his life and death.  You can read the story by clicking here:  STORY.

Q's life had special meaning.  He was a painter!  Many people remember Q's day in the limelight and know how much money his paintings raised to help animals all across the world.  His life had meaning and his death has meaning.  His death brings awareness to the need of adopting homeless animals from shelters or rescue groups.

If you would like to help homeless animals in need, please consider making a small donation to a local Rescue Group of your choice.  Or in honor of Q, please consider making a donation to the American Shetland Sheepdog Association (http://www.assa.org).

It's ironic, but Q's death came days before my Incolay "Sheltie Angel" ornament debuted at the Sheltie Nationals in Georgia. I designed the ornament many months ago, long before Q was ever diagnosed with liver failure.   The ornament is exclusively available through the American Shetland Sheepdog Association's endorsed Rescue Groups.  All proceeds will directly benefit abused and homeless Shelties in need.  So as special as this ornament was for me to design, it takes on an even more significant meaning - because now when I look at it, I will always think of my precious Q-Boy.
